I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire – The Inkspots Cover & Guitar Lesson

With the recent release of the explosive Amazon Prime TV series Fallout (based on the game of the same name) my guitar lesson on how to play this 1940s soundtrack tune has gained many more views in the past few weeks.

The song I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire released by The Inkspots in 1941 with appropriate lyrics for an apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. The vintage sound of the original recording also suits the creepy vibe of the Fallout television series and game.

Inspired by the original recording I created my own cover version of the song and as I’m a guitarist of course I added a guitar solo. I also made a video for my cover of I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire using footage from the abandoned places in Chernobyl as it’s a real life fallout area.

My guitar tutorial includes guitar TAB and notation with the chords, strumming pattern and my added guitar solo. Learning this Inkspots tune is a great way to dip your guitar fingers into jazz if it’s a style that you haven’t played before. The tune uses the commonly used ii-V-I progression and my solo uses techniques such as arpeggios to outline the chord changes as good jazz solo should do! So have fun learning how to play I Don’t Want To Set The World On Fire by The Inkspots on the guitar.
